The Loss of a Dear Friend
https://www.gofundme.com/f/donate-in-memory-of-chandler-oleary
The community in Tacoma, WA has lost one of it’s incredible members. She was a dear friend and an amazing artist. I am heartbroken. So much loss and tragedy in this world. If you are able to help out, I posted a link above to the fundraiser for her family.
I first met Chandler at a wonderful craft market that is beloved to the Tacoma community, Tacoma is for Lovers Artist & Craft Fair at King’s Books. It was a few years into my business and she had a table at the market not too far from mine. When there was a lull in the shoppers, I went over to Chandler’s table and couldn’t stop talking to her about all of the amazing creations she had. I was not familiar with her work prior and was forever changed. She was so kind and friendly. She made you feel like you had know each other for years.
I would see her here and there around town but the best conversations were always had at the craft fair. She had the warmest smile and an infectious laugh. Our collective hearts are broken and things are forever changed. I will hold the light you shared with me in my heart and share it with all those who will listen. Chandler is gone far too soon and we are forever changed.
Current Events etc
Well, I am not as good at keeping you up to date here as I would like to be so, I am going to do my best to change that.
As of right now, it has been 3 days since the Punk Rock Flea Market in Seattle. I can’t thank you all enough for the outpouring of support for my little business as well as all the other artists, crafters, makers and all around creators. What a weekend!
That being said, it has also been a hell of past 7 days. A week ago today, myself & my life partner Jenson, whom some of you have met at events and he is my most awesome delivery guy, took one of our neighborhood community cats in for what appeared to be an abscess on his left cheek. This trip to the Kitsap Humane Society was preceded by an entire two days searching for places that would or could actually see him. His name was Creamsicle. I say was as I unfortunately was told, by the most compassionate & empathetic vet imaginable, that he actually had what was most likely squamous cell carcinoma, a cancerous tumor and she recommended humane euthanasia. It broke my heart straight in half to hear her say that. She asked if she could give me a hug and kept saying she was sorry. She said he looked to be very well cared for and most likely was nearly a decade older than I suspected. I was in shock. I was not expecting to do anything but bring the sweetest, largest and beautiful street cat home to convalesce after having a small procedure.
I am writing this to all of you because I made a choice after that. I am setting aside all of the funds I receive via Venmo at in person events for emergency & wellness fund for the community cats of Marguerite Ave. For those of you who don’t know what a community cat is, it is a cat that has no specific care giver/owner but has folks in a community that feed it and create shelter from adverse weather for it. That being said, no one is financially obligated to do anything for these types of kitties. Myself, my guy and a young married couple a few doors down have chosen to take up reasonable responsibility. It is what my heart & soul say is the correct thing to do. As I am not a trust fund baby, nor am I making a mint from my little business, I figured it is a way for me to be a better steward for these dear souls. If you want to contribute and you will most likely never see me in person, I will make a listing in my online shop for contribution and you can contribute in $5 increments.
Of course I will continue to contribute a percentage from all of my sales to People for Animal Care & Kindness, Detroit Dog Rescue, Kitsap Humane Society, Their Voice and Tacoma Humane Society and where ever else I know it will go to the animals 1st and not to line people’s pockets.
Thank you all so much for reading through this journey and for continuing to be a part of this and the next chapter of my life and my little business.
Taking a Break From Markets for January 2023.
This was, quite possibly the most wacky holiday season out of all 13 that my little business has participated in. So much gratitude for those who found me out in the wild at markets & for those who found me on the www. You are all responsible for this small business owner helping to make hungry tummies, human & animal, in my PNW community a bit less hungry this coming year. Grateful for all of you! I will be taking an in-person hiatus until February, to create more deliciousness. As always, shopping my website is always welcome. Happy Holidays and joy to you & yours!
Holiday Shipping is at the critical point.
All orders placed now through Monday will be shipped USPS Priority. Monday, 12/19/2022 is the shipping cut off. All orders placed after that date will most likely NOT arrive by Christmas. Thank you all for your support of my little business & Happy Holidays!
